2018 Draft Preview: Tight Ends

Current State

  • After discussing receivers, the you have to consider Jimmy Graham as a receiver. He will help give the Packers 3 legit receiving threats on the field while you take the time to develop a receiver.
  • Lance Kendricks isn’t great, but he isn’t bad either. He’s a pretty suitable backup TE.

Draft Outlook

Both Jimmy and Lance are already over 30. It’s time to get a TE. Like receiver, a player in the round 2-4 makes a lot of sense. If there isn’t someone in that range

There are 4 tight ends that I think warrant a look between rounds 2-4. I’ve seen them ranked all over the place in the rounds, and the order always seems different. For me, they would be: 1) Dallas Goedert 2) Mike Gesicki 3) Hayden Hurst 4) Mark Andrews

I’d like to grab one of the 4. If that doesn’t work, I’m also pretty high on Ian Thomas. I think he would be a good fit in the 5th.

Another late prospect that intrigues me is Tyler Conklin. I’d happily take him with a 6th round pick.

In the 7th or perhaps undrafted, Deon Yelder would be a good value.
