Stude’s 2019 Draft Coverage: Day 2 Preview

When day 2 starts, I expect there will be a quick run on corners and receivers. Hardly any went yesterday, and Greedy Williams, Byron Murphy, DK Metcalf and A.J. Brown will all likely go pretty quickly.

With an new offensive minded head coach, I will be shocked (SHOCKED!) if the Packers next pick isn’t an offensive player. For me, that means receiver, right tackle, or possibly Irv Smith.

I personally think lineman would be the best long term choice. Jawaan Taylor is the best overall player still on the board, but his knee apparently is a concern and fell out of the first round. If the medial staff clears him, he would be the best choice. I’d also love to see Risner at #44 and is my current top choice. Butler or Brown would be fun too.

My offensive guys for today:

  • RT Jawaan Taylor
  • RT Dalton Risner
  • WR Hakeem Butler
  • WR A.J. Brown
  • iOL Erik McCoy
  • TE Irv Smith, Jr.
  • WR Kelvin Harmon
  • WR Deebo Samuel

The Packers have expressed interest in OT Greg Little, so that’s worth watching. David Edwards might go tonight too but that’s too early for me.

I wanted a running back with the now missing pick #114. My main 2 are Miles Sanders and Darrell Henderson. They won’t make it to the 5th so it might have to be in the 3rd and I’ll be watching all night.

If they go defense, I still like safeties Chauncey Gardner-Johnson, Nasir Adderly, Deionte Thompson, and Juan Thornhill. I would have been ok with the double dip on the position if they still had both 4th rounders, but I don’t think I would now.

I’m also interested in Rock Ya-Sin, Amani Oruwariye, Mack Wilson, Renell Wren, Zach Allen, Khalen Saunders, Christian Miller, and Justin Layne.

Another big story for tonight is where Jachai Polite goes, and who’s going to give him the chance.

Probably the biggest non-Packers story tonight will be QB Josh Rosen. I say that because you have a sophomore franchise QB that needs a new home and people may trade for him. Frankly, I’d take him. Either way, it’s probably going to be discussed multiple times tonight.

Enjoy day 2!
